Every one of these players first learned the game on fields like the ones in our own neighbourhoods. Now six of those fields carry their names.
We have officially renamed six sports fields in honour of the Brampton born and Brampton connected players who represented Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. When kids show up for practice, they will see that the road to the highest level of the game can start right here at home.
The six newly named fields
- Cyle Larin Soccer Field, Chris Gibson Park (Ward 1)
- Promise David Soccer Field, Major Oaks Park (Ward 1)
- Jonathan Osorio Soccer Field, Morris Kerbel Park (Ward 2)
- Liam Millar Soccer Field, Flower City Community Campus (Ward 4)
- Tajon Buchanan Soccer Field, Bramalea Ltd. Community Park (Ward 7)
- Jayden Nelson Soccer Field, near Victoria Park Arena (Ward 7)
Soccer keeps growing in Brampton
Brampton has 191 soccer fields, including 52 senior fields and 139 junior, mini and tot fields. In 2025, our outdoor fields were booked for more than 34,400 hours, and over 31,700 of those hours were youth soccer. City recreation soccer programs drew more than 12,000 registrations for the 2025/26 season.
That demand is why we are building more places to play:
- Five new boxed soccer courts starting in 2027, one for each ward pairing, delivered through the 2027 Budget. They build on the Atiba Hutchinson boxed soccer court we opened a few years ago.
- New soccer nets at 10 parks across the city, turning open green space into dedicated children’s size playing areas.
Congratulations to all six players, and thank you to their families, coaches and the local clubs that helped them get here.

Media Quote
“This has been an incredible season for soccer in Brampton and an opportunity to celebrate the homegrown athletes who have proudly represented our city and Canada on the international stage. Congratulations to Cyle Larin and all of the players being recognized with these lasting tributes. Their achievements show young athletes what can begin on a local Brampton soccer field. We are also very excited to announce plans for five additional boxed soccer courts starting in 2027, along with new sets of soccer nets at 10 locations across Brampton. By continuing to invest in our parks, recreation facilities and community programs, we are building a healthy, active city where the next generation has opportunities to play, grow and pursue their goals.”
