As our city has grown, we’ve made historic investments in policing, modern technology, and new infrastructure to keep pace. From hiring hundreds of new officers to strengthening emergency response and tackling issues like auto theft, real progress is being made. Major Drug and Weapons Seizure in Peel: Mayor Commends Community Intervention and Response Team

Peel Police’s CIRT team has taken over $1 million in dangerous drugs, a loaded handgun, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition off our streets through Project Winner, a community-driven investigation that began with a resident’s tip. Mayor Patrick Brown says the operation “isn’t just about drugs or guns—it’s about saving lives and sending a clear message that traffickers will be held accountable.”

Peel Police Seize Record 71 Firearms and $1M in Drugs

Since Sept 2023 Peel Regional Police has been investigating a group trafficking illegal firearms from the United States and distributing them across the Greater Toronto Area. The investigation has resulted in the largest seizure of illegal firearms in the service’s history. Ten individuals have been arrested and charged with 185 Criminal Code Offences. Over 70 illegal firearms, large amounts of ammunition, and illicit narcotics have been seized as part of the investigation.
