Major Drug and Weapons Seizure in Peel: Mayor Commends Community Intervention and Response Team

Peel Police’s CIRT team has taken over $1 million in dangerous drugs, a loaded handgun, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition off our streets through Project Winner, a community-driven investigation that began with a resident’s tip. Mayor Patrick Brown says the operation “isn’t just about drugs or guns—it’s about saving lives and sending a clear message that traffickers will be held accountable.”

Peel Police hosted Ontario’s first policing-led Victims and Survivors Symposium, highlighting how Canada’s justice system often prioritizes the rights of the accused over victims, leaving families feeling revictimized. Police and community voices called for urgent bail reform, stronger advocacy for survivors, and collaborative action across all levels of government to fix the system.
Public artwork honouring the legacy of Premier Bill Davis unveiled

Brampton honoured former Ontario Premier Bill Davis with a new monument at PAMA near City Hall. Titled Contours of Connection, the artwork was chosen through a provincial competition and features abstract forms that reveal Davis’s silhouette or the words “educate” and “inspire,” reflecting his impact on education.
Eliminating Racing Activities on Streets Everywhere (ERASE 2025) Campaign

Peel Regional Police, in partnership with neighbouring forces, is ramping up efforts to combat street racing and stunt driving through Project ERASE—a regional enforcement campaign targeting high-risk driving across the GTA. With a 154% rise in related charges since 2022, recent operations have led to over 400 charges and 32 vehicle seizures in just two weeks. We have a zero-tolerance stance on dangerous driving.

Peel Police Seize Record 71 Firearms and $1M in Drugs

Since Sept 2023 Peel Regional Police has been investigating a group trafficking illegal firearms from the United States and distributing them across the Greater Toronto Area. The investigation has resulted in the largest seizure of illegal firearms in the service’s history. Ten individuals have been arrested and charged with 185 Criminal Code Offences. Over 70 illegal firearms, large amounts of ammunition, and illicit narcotics have been seized as part of the investigation.
