City of Brampton welcomes Ontario’s rapid transit tunnel

Brampton is set to transform our transit system with the Hazel McCallion Line extension to Downtown Brampton. This four-kilometre underground extension will connect the Brampton Gateway Terminal to downtown. The project will enhance transit efficiency, drive economic growth, and support urban development, with the potential for 47,000 new housing units and 17,000 jobs.
Cadetta Johnston Transit Facility to Double Brampton’s Bus Fleet

Breaking ground on Brampton’s third Transit facility is a significant milestone for our city. This new facility helps us meet the growing demand for public transit, and also underscores our commitment to a greener, more sustainable future. With the support of our federal and provincial partners, we are paving the way for a modern transit system benefitting residents today and generations to come.
Mayor Brown Meets with Prime Minister Trudeau

Today, I met with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to actively pursue solutions for two important issues
for the people of Brampton: combating auto thefts and advancing the construction of the Light Rail
Transit (LRT) into Downtown Brampton. We reaffirmed our commitment to a continued partnership between the Government of Canada and
the City of Brampton, focusing on tangible solutions to our pressing challenges.
E-Scooter Pilot Program launches in Brampton

The implementation phase of a 2-year e-scooter pilot program is underway. In June, 2021, the City of Brampton’s Committee of Council provided direction to enact the necessary by-laws to permit and regulate the use of e-scooters in the City and direction to develop a pilot program to assess the uptake and impact of an e-scooter shared system in the City for Council’s consideration and approval.
2-Way Weekend GO Train Service

New, two-way weekend GO Train service is being introduced on the Kitchener Line between Brampton and Toronto. As of April 8, the service will run hourly in both directions between Mount Pleasant GO in Brampton and Union Station in Toronto.
